Show Description

Karl is back after being away for a couple of weeks and talks about his holiday. He was pleased to see a woman on the beach feeding fish bread but less thrilled about seeing an old guy with his tackle out.

Karl has been busy thinking up new features for the show including “Rockbusters”. An excruciatingly long period of dead air causes Ricky to go mental after which two listeners call in to play Karl’s quiz.

Karl introduces another new feature “Educating Ricky” which includes “Alien gives man a beard” and “Hairy Chinese Kid”. He also suggests giving old people rubik’s cubes instead of sending them to hospital.

Ricky is still a bit drunk from the previous nights boozing session and finds it difficult to talk. Luckily Karl comes to the rescue and announces that he’s improved last weeks new features, this weeks star prize is “Children of the Corn”.

Ricky has a chance meeting with a shoplifter who’d just nicked some Office dvds from HMV and Karl reveals which animal would manage to get his brain to Glasgow.

Karl does the first proper Rockbusters, dispels a myth about worms that no one had really heard of anyway and watch out for shadows in Boston.

I love it. This is where the "break" took place and Ricky became openly hostile to Karls stupidity and XFM's shoddiness. Its the BEST! The first mention of hairy Chinese Kids....The very best thing ever!

The bacon thing is from a chain email from a decade ago. The phrase "chewing the fat", meaning a long chat in which little information is exchanged, is simply a comparison to the way in which fat is chewed for a long time without much food actually being consumed.

I think ricky nearly threw in the towel in this show but i reckon karl saved it with educating ricky!!
